Below is the resources/news section. By uploading a document the link is automatically created and the item will open in a new window.
Also view the naming convention standards before uploading files. http://www.ecasd.k12.wi.us/coa_started.cfm
There are options other than uploading documents, such as links to external and internal sites, but the document link will probably be used most often for newsletters, meeting minutes and agendas, and a variety of other things.
One thing to be careful of before uploading documents is the size of the file. Items that were created for print media are usually not the best for the web because they are too big and our storage is limited.
To view the size of a document that you have saved, right-click on it and select properties. There will now be a dialog box open and on the General tab you will be able to see the size of the document. A size that ends with KB is the best, any that end with MB will have to be evaluated. A small MB number like 1-2 is not terrible but anything above 5 takes up a lot of space and may be slow to open for people at home. We are brain storming ideas on what to do for these large files because we know they are out there and we don't want to limit what we are doing.
For public viewing it is best to publish files in a pdf file. Not everyone has Microsoft Word at home and very few have Microsoft Publisher. If you need a pdf creator installed on your district pc, please open a Clientele ticket at http://helpdesk.ecasd.k12.wi.us/
We are also working on another tool to make Power Point presentations smaller and make it so that Power Point is not needed to view them.
