Food Service Department

The Food and Nutrition Staff is excited to bring fun and energizing foods to both the hot lunch line and the ala carte line.  You will need to talk with your parents to decide what options are best for you.  Below are highlights to both the hot lunch line and the ala carte line.

Hot Lunch:
Our food and nutrition program participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.  This means our menus are nutritionally analyzed on a weekly basis to meet the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans and to provide 1/4 of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for breakfast and 1/3 RDA for lunch.   This meal line is packed with menu options as displayed on the posted monthly lunch menus found on our website at www.ecasd.k12.wi.us/departments/business/foodandnutrition.  Just a friendly reminder that you will be required to have at least 4 different items on your tray to count as a National School Lunch meal.  Every day you will be offered 3 different entrée choices, 4 side item choices, and a choice of milk.  All entrée items will have a sign above them.  You will need to choose one entrée and at least 3 other items in order for the meal to count as a USDA meal.

Ala Carte:
You may also purchase a wide variety of smart choices in the ala carte line such as deli sandwiches, wraps, salads, fresh fruits and vegetables, baked chips, fruit and yogurt parfaits, pudding parfaits, milk, 100% juice, granola bars, peanuts, yogurt, and bagels to name a few.  Ala carte means food items are sold individually, so all food items on this line are priced separately like you would see in a grocery store.  These items are NOT eligible for free or reduced price meals.

The food and lunch program strives to make dining with us as fast and convenient as possible.  We need your help!  While cash is accepted on the line, we encourage you to deposit money into your account before 10:00 a.m.  This greatly reduces the wait time to get your meals because it takes twice as long to deposit money on the line.   Prepayments by cash or check are to be placed in a “prepayment” envelope and placed in the drop box located outside the cafeteria, across from room 243 by 10:00 am. Credit cards can be used with myLunchMoney.com.

Each child has been assigned a four- or five-digit PIN (Personal Identification Number) which will remain the same from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Your account will be reduced by the cost of the meal, milk or a la carte items you purchase.

Charging is Not Allowed:  Charging of meals is not allowed at the middle schools.  You will need to have money in your account or cash to pay for your meals so please bring your money down early and deposit in the drop box located outside of the cafeteria window no later than 10:00 a.m.  This way, we can have your money deposited in your account prior to lunch service or enroll on mylunchmoney.com

The lunch periods for South Middle School are as follows:

Grade 6:  10:56-11:22
Grade 7:  12:00-12:26
Grade 8:  11:30-11:56

The Food and Nutrition Department is lead by Kitchen Manager, Mary Sullivan. Please feel free to contact her if you have any questions and/or concerns regarding the lunch program.
