South Middle School Sports Information for 2012-2013
Sport Seasons
Quarter 1 September 4 to October 26
Quarter 2 October 29 to December 21
Quarter 3 January 7 to March 15
Quarter 4 April 1 to May 24
Practice and competitions are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. No Wednesdays or weekends. Early practices run from 2:50-4:20 and late practices (8th grade volleyball and 8th grade girls’ and boys’ basketball) run from 4:20-5:50.
We believe that all students have the right to participate in athletics regardless of their experience and ability level. South athletics is a “no cut” program and our coaches are expected to play everyoneas equally as possible. Playing time could be adjusted if there are issues regarding attendance, attitude, effort, and cooperation.
Quarter 1 (Sept 4 – Oct 26, 2012) Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, Diving, Football, Cross County, Boys Soccer
Quarter 2 (Oct 29 – Dec 21, 2012) Girls Swimming, Boys Basketball, Dance Team
Quarter 3 (Jan 7 – March 15, 2013) Wrestling, Boys Swimming, Girls Basketball
Quarter 4 (April 1 – May 24, 2013) Boys Tennis, Track, Girls Soccer, Softball
All students must have a green physical card on file in order to participate. This card must be signed by a physician to verify that the student has had a physical within the past two years and is being allowed to participate in athletics. Students may not participate until this card is turned in. All students must have an emergency medical treatment form on file in order to participate. This form must be filled out and turned in annually.
