Students at South are serviced by GT in a variety of ways. Most gifted students have their needs met in a regular classroom through differentiation by their classroom teacher. Some students have been identified for special classes such as Pre Algebra or Enriched English. In addition to special classes, students may be assigned mentors for writing or work with the GT resource teacher in small groups for enrichment.
Identification is an on-going process and students may be recommended for the program at any grade level and at any time during the school year. The goal of identification is to recognize students with unusual talents and abilities for the purpose of including them in programs that will best meet their unique educational needs. Multiple identification measures will be used in each of the categories of Standard (t). For more information on identification and programming, check the link to the Eau Claire Gifted Department.
Please feel free to contact Sue Fulkerson at any time at 852-5238 with questions you have. Your partnership will provide the best educational experience for your son or daughter here at South.
