FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE FOR THE FALL 2013 SEASON IS SET FOR MONDAY AUGUST 19TH.
THE NEXT HIGHWAY CLEAN-UP IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 22ND.
The exact time will be announced in practice the week of September 17th. Athletes should wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, a hat, durable close-toed shoes, and work gloves.
Those athletes planning on participating in the highway clean-up should view a video on highway safety. The video can be accessed by doing the following:
1. Visit the Department of Transportation website at www.dot.state.wi.us .
2. Select the link titled "Programs for local government".
3. Under "other aid", select "adopt-a-highway".
4. Select the "adopt-a-highway safety tips" video on YouTube. The video lasts about 9 minutes and 20 seconds.
OPTIONAL SUMMER WORK-OUTS STARTING MONDAY JUNE 11TH:
Meet @ 8:00 AM @ the Memorial High School track. Work-outs are planned for Monday through Friday each day - same time and same location through the end of July. Memorial cross-country coaches will be present some days but not all. Veteran runners will need to supervise/coordinate when coaches are not present. We'll find out who wants to lead!
These runs are open to all interested student-athletes, not just cross-country runners. Bring a friend if you'd like. Attend when you can, but the more consistent you are, the more beneficial to you.
Some runs will be difficult and some will be fast, so you'll need a watch with a stopwatch function.
ALL interested participants AND a parent/guardian will need to read information pertaining to head injuries located at the links below. Both the ATHLETE and PARENT/GUARDIAN will also need to sign and complete the "agreement" form located at the link below, and present it to the coach BEFORE they are eligible to participate in these optional runs. This is a state law!!
