Lt. Kenneth Garton lost his life as the result of an aircraft accident on January 29,1972.
He was serving as aircraft commander on a C-2A aircraft flight from Naples, Italy to the USS Independence which was operating in the central Mediterranean between Italy and Greece.
He received his pilots wings In Corpus Christie, Texas and had been stationed in Yokohama, Japan for over three years.
He graduated from Memorial High School in 1960. He attended Wisconsin State University, Eau Claire for two and a half years before entering the Navy.
Besides his mother, Ardis Garton Crowe he is survived by his wife Jeanine, a daughter Jennifer and a son Christopher, a brother Gary, two sisters Karen and Deborah.
