3rd Grade Book Reports

April - Classics

Some classics books in the Manz library can be found here. But don't let that limit you. Our definition of a classic book is one that has been around--and popular--for at least a generation (or 20 years). Students can check the copyright date to see the age of a book. One really fun way to find a classic book is to think of a book that YOU loved as a child and share that with your student. There are lots more--many folktales, fairy tales, poetry, or any beloved story that's stood the test of time could be considered a classic.

March - Animal Stories

There are tons of animal stories in Manz library! You can see a list of them here. Remember to pick a "just right" book for you!

February - Poetry

All Manz library poetry books have the same Dewey Decimal number call number: 811.54. Stop by the easy nonfiction or regular nonfiction to find a book!

January - Biographies

Biographies are in their own section of Manz library. They have a B on the spine and the first three letters of the subject's (not the author's!) last name. They are then organized alphabetically. If there were a biography about Mrs. Wojahn, its call number would be B Woj.

In class, we brainstormed things we were interested in...like football, rocks, or the Civil War...then we searched for biographies using those keywords. It helped us find biographies on people we had never heard of but who were very interesting to us!

December - Holiday Books

December is HOLIDAY books. The library has lots of Christmas books. But maybe you want to read a book on a different holiday. You can search for a holiday book in the Manz library by clicking on the pictures here.
