September: Adventure Books
Welcolme to the adventure of going back to school! Every month 3rd graders are expected to read one book from an assigned genre, or category. Each month they are introduced to many books of that genre during library time. We will also list ideas on this webpage.
The resources listed in class and below represent a wide variety of reading levels. Your student will probably have the most fun reading books that are "just right" for his/her reading level. Students at Manz are taught that a general guideline is the "5 Finger Rule." Students read a page at random in the book, and put up one finger for every word they don't know. If, at the end of the page, they have 5 fingers up, it is too hard. 0 fingers is too easy. 2-3 is "just right."
And now, on to the adventure books!
We define adventure books as books where:
- The main character is put in danger over and over again.
- The main character uses specials skills or tools to get out of the danger.
There are lots of adventure books in the Manz library. You can see many of them here. Don't forget to click the Next button to see all the pages!
