Public School Open Enrollment: February 6 - 24, 2012
Wisconsin residents in grades 4K -12 may apply to attend school in a school district other than the one in which they live. For example: a child that lives in the Altoona School District could apply to attend the Eau Claire Area School District (ECASD). Students in pre-kindergarten may participate in limited circumstances; parents should call Sandy LaValley at 852-3003 to find out if their preschool-aged children qualify. Students who are currently attending the ECASD through open enrollment do not need to reapply unless they are entering 9th grade (Board Policy #424).
The open enrollment application for the 2012-13 school year is February 6 - 24, 2012. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction will no longer provide paper application forms to school districts. An on-line application will be available to the public beginning Monday, February 6, and closing at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 24. The website is at: http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/psctoc.html.
A computer will be available at the Eau Claire Area School District Office for families who do not have access to a computer or would like assistance in completing the on-line application. It will be located in the office of the Executive Director of Administration, Room 134, 500 Main Street, and available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.
Have you moved outside of the Eau Claire School District this year? If so, you need to complete a Tuition Waiver form. Contact Sandy LaValley for more information at 852-3003.

Nestlé's vs. Roosevelt Milk Cap Challenge-Year 2
 |
For the past 2 months Nestlé's and Roosevelt have been competing to see who can collect the most milk caps. Nestlé's added the 521 milk caps they collected to the 22,646 milk caps Roosevelt collected (with the help of Starbucks) to earn Roosevelt over $1100.00 for the Playground Fund. Everyone enjoyed Nesquik donated by Nestle and milk donated by Gordy's County Market and Land O' Lakes as a reward for their hard work. Roosevelt would also like to thank Gordy's County Market for the donation of cups, shirts and pencils. This event partnered Roosevelt students, families and PTA with Nestle, Starbucks, Gordy's County Market and Land O' Lakes.

Memorial Students Learn About Trafficking
 |
Memorial High School Amnesty International put together an exhibit to inform students on the subject of human trafficking. Human trafficking, or modern day slavery, affects millions of people around the world. Amnesty International transformed the Little Theater into an educational exhibit on what trafficking is, how and why it happens, and what can be done about it.

12th Annual Northstar Giving Tree
 |
The opening of hearts and generosity is exactly what Northstar Middle School?s Annual Giving Tree is all about. It couldn?t be truer of the 2011 Giving Tree, which concluded December 16. This year Northstar students, staff, and families supported some of our very own Northstar families, who have experienced homelessness, loss of employment, and many other special circumstances. Over 200 ornaments were selected from our Giving Tree and gifts purchased, as well as gift cards, and over $700.00 dollars in cash donations. The gifts that were purchased were given to fifteen Northstar families to help make their holidays bright!
